Hummels Wharf, Pa – Cody Conklin continued his dominant play this summer as he cruised to the NCPGA Junior Tour Match Play Championship today at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. With a day of rest in between Tuesday’s two matches, the left hander from Three Ponds capped off his summer with a 3 and 2 victory in the championship finals this afternoon over Williamsport Country Club’s Andrew Krout.
It was Conklin’s steady play that made him so hard to beat. In the afternoon final match, he offset two bogeys with two birdies, the second one coming on the final hole of the match where he hit his approach shot to within a foot of the hole. It was a similar story in the morning semi-finals where Conklin again forced his opponent, Nick Butto of
Dominant all summer in the NCPGA Junior Tour’s six stroke play tournaments, Conklin won three of those events and posted a 72.25 stroke average and nailed down the Boudman Award for the low scoring average on the junior tour. Following play on Wednesday, the players will enjoy dinner together and the NCPGA will award their annual scholarship awards and recognize the season’s champions.
