Williamsport, Pa.- Three Ponds’ Cody Conklin shot a one over par 72 today at the Williamsport Country Club to capture the overall stroke play championship of the NCPGA Junior Tour. It was Conklin’s third win of the summer having won earlier both at Bucknell Golf Club and at White Deer. Conklin will be seeded first in tomorrow’s match play championship which will begin at 8:00am Tuesday morning at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club. The match play championship pits the top sixteen players of the NCPGA junior Tour in an individual match play format. Winners of tomorrow morning’s eight matches will advance to the quarter-finals in the afternoon with the semi-finals and finals scheduled to conclude on Thursday.

In the boys 35 to 15 year old age bracket, Bucknell Golf Club’s C.J. Tyler shot 75 to nip Liberty Valley ’s Robert Seebold by a shot. Jacob Lenhart of Wynding Brook won the boys 10-12 division with a nine hole score of 47.

Devan Everett of Belles Springs won the girls 16-18 with a 95 while Taylor Krout of Williamsport CC won the girls 13-15 with a 105.

Katie Behnert of Wynding Brook won the girls 10-12 with a nine hole score of 72.

This was the final event of the regular season stroke play tour. Following the match play championship, which concludes this week,  the NCPGA Junior season will conclude on August 5th at Eagles Mere with the 7th annual Parent Child Tournament. The tournament, formerly know as the Father-Son, has been expanded to include any combination of family members including mother-daughter/son, father-daughter/son, grandparents, in laws etc. The tournament will be played at the Eagles Mere Country Club and will feature a dinner at the conclusion of play at which scholarship winners will be announced as well as other champions recognized.

The NCPGA is a non-profit organization of member golf clubs dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the game of golf in North Central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1981, the association conducts a highly successful junior tour, men’s and women’s amateur championships, a senior tournament series, U.S. Open local qualifying and provides handicapping services to member clubs which is the major source of revenue to the association. NCPGA volunteers also rate golf courses and conduct educational seminars for handicap chairmen, rules clinics and supports the USGA Turf Advisory Program.
